Aluminium 2024 sheets and plates are primarily composed of aluminium, with copper as the primary alloying element (3.8-4.9%), along with smaller amounts of manganese, magnesium, and other elements. This composition provides high strength, excellent fatigue resistance, and good machinability. The material has a tensile strength of approximately 470-520 MPa and a yield strength of 325 MPa, with an elongation of around 10-15%.
