Aluminium 6082 Channel is an alloy known for its high strength, corrosion resistance and excellent weldability. Its composition is typically 0.7-1.3% silicon (Si), 0.4-1.0% manganese (Mn), 0.1-0.5% iron (Fe), 0.7-1.0% magnesium (Mg), 0.1% copper (Cu), and less so for other elements such as chromium (Cr), zinc (Zn), and titanium (Ti). The alloy gives a yield strength of about 240 MPa, an ultimate tensile strength of 310 MPa and an elongation of 12%. It is commonly used in construction applications including bridges, cranes and ships due to its mechanical properties and stress corrosion crack resistance.
